For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L, Yissachar ben Yona ZT’L and Haviva bat Yocheved Z’L.
Parashat
Noah is really long. 151 Pesukim (verses) of pure letters from the deep Hebrew
alphabet. Hazal (our Sages) teach us that the letters of the Torah represent
Hashem’s name, each letter has its own purity behind it symbolizing Hashem. We
also know from Shiruim (Torah classes) that the letters of the Torah light up
one’s spirituality just by seeing the Torah scroll’s letters, this is why
Yerushalayim’s minhag (custom) is to open up the Torah when taking it
our from the Aron HaKodesh to the place of reading the Torah.
The
Parasha has an interesting Pasuk that Rashi explains in one way, but theCLD
wants to take another direction regarding this Pasuk. Rashi explains on the
Pasuk Bereshit 7:7 “And Noah went in
and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him into the ark…” Rashi
explains that from the order of the people in the Pasuk we learn that Hashem
commanded the men to avoid relations with their wives because relations causes
simha (happiness) and the world was experiencing suffering so they had to join
the world’s suffering. Besides for the entire Dvar Torah that can be created
from this one Pasuk regarding what is the right way of performing this simha
(happiness) of marital relations, we can also learn something else.
We
know when we say Mi SheBerah (the blessing after someone goes up to the
Torah) we bless the person first, then his boys and then his wife! Why?
Because the entire life, in this world and in Olam Haba, is influenced for the
best or the opposite BASED ON ONE’S CHILDREN! Noah’s children are the children that
the world was created from. As it is written from the Parasha, from Shem (the
biggest Talmid Hacham out of the three) came Avaraham Avinu, Yitzhak Yaakov and
all of Israel. From Ham (the troublemaker) came Egypt and our biggest enemies,
and in the middle was Yefet which was the father or Persia, Greece, etc.
We
learn from this that the hinuch of our children in the future G-d
willing, whether it be in the next couple of years or even in 5-10 years,
begins from our time of growing and building our spiritual basis! We must know
that in order to pass on the education of a real Jew that is glued to Hashem
and always has a smile on must come from ourselves because children pick up
everything. If you as a parent are not doing anything with all your heart your
child will pick it up!
If
a child can tell the truth, how much more so our Creator and Father Hashem who
is watching everything we do and even calculating every emotion in our hearts?!
SHABBAT SHALOM!
