For the Ilui
Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L. Lehavdeel For the Refua Shlema of Yaakov Hai
ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef Kitzur Shulchan Aruch:
1. We light a candle on Erev Rosh HaShanah to respect the Yom Tov, where one should first say the appropriate
Beracha (blessing) on the candle and
then light it. The Beracha on lighting a candle for Rosh HaShanah is “…Lehadlik Ner shel Yom Tov.”
2. There are women who have the minhag (custom) to recite the Beracha of Shehecheyanu also with the Beracha of lighting the Rosh HaShanah
candle, however; the correct way is to obtain from saying the Beracha of Shehecheyanu before Rosh HaShanah.
These women should simply have the kavana
(intention) to fulfill the obligation of saying Shehecheyanu during the Kiddush of the Eve of Rosh HaShanah (when
we do say Shehecheyanu before
feasting).
