For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L & Yissachar ben Yona Z’L.
"...פנה אל תפילת הערער"
In Tehillim Perek 102:18-19 David HaMelech writes: “When
He turned to the prayer of the destitute, He did not despise their prayer. Let
this be inscribed for the latest
generation, and a newly created people will praise Yah. (chabad.org)”
In the book, Takanat HaShav, by Rav Yisrael Yaakov Lugasi
shlit’a, he brings down these Pesukim to explain a key limud (learning) that pertains to our life filled withs priitual
ups and downs. Now, as we can all see from recent CLDs, Rosh HaShanah is around
the corner and its time to get closer
to Hashem and do Teshuva (repent). No one says this is easy. As taught from the
Rambam, HaGaon Rav Ovadia Yosef shlit’a explains that the basis of teshuva is
not returning to do the same sin. Meaning, if someone has a girlfriend and they
have their relations, doing teshuva means doing vidui (discussed in the Halachot for the day), being embarrassed by
your actions no matter how much you can justify them (regretting it) and not
returning to do the sin! After tasting sin one has double the difficulty or
probably even more to stop! That is what makes a Jew great.
Back to Tehillim: No one says its easy. And also what the Yezter Hara (spiritual force that pushes
us to sin) tells us is: You are so spiritually dirty, you are so spiritually
low! How can Hashem even accept your Teshuva! But David HaMelech writes in
Tehillim that Hashem turns to the prayer of the destitute, written in Hebrew:
“Ha’Arar.” Rav Lugasi brings here the Arizal who says don’t read “Ha’Arar”
rather mix the letters and read “Ha’RaRa” the evil evil. Then the following
pasuk says it is written for the latest
generation, or the generation of the Mashiah (and it is clear that is
talking about us). What does this teach us? No matter how low we go, no matter
what spiritual depths of dirt and impurity we reach, G-d forbid, Hashem is
ALWAYS HERE TO HEAR OUR CRY! Hashem is our Father, not some evil prosecutor.
Its time to think logically: if Hashem gave us the Torah with difficult tasks
to accomplish, you think He would give it to us without implanting in our blood
and bones the ability to do them?
Judaism=Think.
Rosh
HaShanah is in 11 days.
