For the Ilui
Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L. Lehavdeel For the Refua Shlema of Yaakov Hai
ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef Kitzur Shulchan Aruch:
1. On Erev Rosh HaShanah (this year falls on Sunday from
dawn until sunset), we do not say Vidui
and Nefillat Apayim (Tahanoon) during
the Shaharit (morning) minyan. However, during the Selihot that goes on before
the Shaharit service (anytime before sunrise Sunday morning) we do say
Tahanoon. All the Laws of Tefillah that pertain to days where we do not say
Tahanoon (such as not saying Mizmor
Ledavid Ya’ancha Hashem Beyom Tzarah and other parts of Tefillah) we also
do not say during the Shaharit minyan of Erev Rosh HaShanah (Sunday morning).
2. We do not blow the Shofar on Erev Rosh HaShanah,
especially in a Bet Knesset (synagogue).
If the person who is paid to blow the Shofar during Rosh HaShanah still wants
to practice getting the shofar blowing correct may only do so in a closed room.
