For the Ilui
Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L & Yissachar ben Havah ZT'L (passed away in Israel a couple hours ago). Lehavdeel For the Refua Shlema of Yaakov Hai
ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef Kitzur Shulchan Aruch:
1. A Jew can call up his/her non-Jewish employee where
Shabbat has ended for the Jew even though the non-Jew is by a place where it is
still Shabbat because even though the non-Jew’s location is observing Shabbat
and he/she might do an action that is forbidden to do during Shabbat, the Jew
has said/heard Havdalah and Shabbat is over for him/her.
2. Wheover knows that his/her non-religious relatives call
him/her up when Shabbat is still being observed in their location may not pick
up the phone. Even though Shabbat is over for the one being called, they must
avoid picking up the telephone because he/she is helping them in an avera (sin) by speaking to them because
it is still Shabbat for the non-religious relatives.
3. It is forbidden to write on a notepad/paper on Erev Shabbat
(Friday) a message to do melacha (a forbidden
action on Shabbat) so when Shabbat begins the Jew can show it to the non-Jew
without directly speaking to the non-Jew. This is forbidden because it is as if
the Jew is literally telling the non-Jew what to do for him/her even though it
is written on paper.
