CLD #614

For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
The Gemara in the Talmud Bavli says the Tehelet (special color in the Tzitzit) symbolizes the ocean, which symbolizes the sky, which symbolizes Hashem’s Kisseh HaKavod (throne).

In Manhattan one barely sees the sky. The sky is a sign of weakness for humanity, especially for our generation’s know-it-alls. The sky is proof that there is something above us. Why? Because there is no Avodah Zarah (idol) or any type of living thing that can create something similar to the extreme scientific depth behind the sky, the clouds, the jet stream, wind patterns, atmosphere, gravitational pull, air, etc.

Just think about a single trip of an airplane in the sky. How many times does the plane hit turbulence? Many. The pressure system in the sky is another remarkable phenomenon. There is so much going around us, but when we place ourselves in an environment where there are obstacles causing us to ignore nature and Hashem’s control of it, how do we expect millions of people to have even a thought of a G-d maneuvering the world’s existence?!

Therefore it is best to be surrounded by Jews with enough spiritual strength to fight off these thoughts of misguidance and ignorance. To be surrounded by Kosher restaurants and Shuls, Batei Midrashot, Yeshivas, etc. These places are like lamps in a darkened forest, because today this world we live in is pitch black. When we go out of our way to follow the Torah and happily do Mitzvot we succeed in lighting up our Neshamot (souls) and everyone around us.

Shavua Tov.
