For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L. Lehavdeel
For the Refua Shlema of Chai Yaakov ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef Kitzur Shulchan Aruch:
1. It is a Mitzvah to visit the sick and there are those who
say it is even a Mitzvah from the Torah. There are those who also say it is
from Sifrei Sofrim (Derabanan, from
our Sages). In any event, we do not say a Beracha on this Mitzvah because of
many reasons.
2. This Mitzvah also stands when the sick person is lying in
the hospital and there are nurses and doctors providing care for him/her.
Meaning even when all this is going on, one has the Mitzvah to go up to the
person and inspire him/her to hope for the good and to pray for him/her. This
is also the fulfillment of the Torah’s law of Ve’Ahavta Lere’echa Kamocha (Love your fellow as you love
yourself).
