For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L. Lehavdeel
For the Refua Shlema of Chai Yaakov ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Rav Ovadya’s Halacha Yomit E-mails:
1. The Miztavh of “VeHigadeta Lebincha” also applies for
women/girls. Therefore, one should also teach in heavy detail and with much
patience the story of Yetziyat Mitzrayim (the exile of Egypt) and everything
associated with it on this night (Lel HaSeder). Meaning, the main point of the
Lel HaSeder is to create an environment to have the children ask: “What is
different on this night than any other night?” and to relive the exile of
Mitzrayim!
2. One should eat in total three Kazayit (around 30 grams each) Matzah on Lel HaSeder: One Kazayit
during “Motzih Matzah,” One Kazayit during “Korech,” and people hold to eat a
single Kazayit during “Tzafun,” however it is recommended to be strict and eat
two Kazatot (54 grams) of Matzah during Tzafun. Therefore, if one follows the
majority and eat two Kazatot of Matzah during Tzafun, they eat in total four Kazatot of Matzah during Lel
HaSeder.
