CLD #560

For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
During the Reciting of the Haggadah (reciting is not the appropriate word because this is not a ceremony, rather something we should be living and feeling), we say something that completely does not make sense. Actually, if someone looks at the Haggadah in depth, they see there are endless amounts of questions and weird things in the Haggadash that do not even fit with anything! But lets just take apart a single line from the Haggadah and see how we can connect it to our everyday lives.

During the time where our doors are probably locked and we are deep into the Haggadah, we say the famous line “If anyone wants to come into the home, come and feast with us!” Many commentaries jump at this line and bring up many questions. The Halban, the famous Kabbalist in Tel Aviv, simply asks what does this have to do with Pesach and what is really going on here?

The Halban explains: The pnimiyut, the inner essence of every Jew, is to just bring more good into the world. And this actually makes complete sense because if we think a little, we know that Hashem created all of us in His image. If we also know the basics of Judaism that Hashem is filled with only good and only good is really only good, then we are created with only goodness inside of us. And this is what the Halban is really saying: the Haggadah is just re-iterating the known fact that Am Yisrael is filled with positive intentions of Chessed, love, care, bringing everyone together to serve Hashem with Yirat Shamayim (Fear of Heaven).

The essence of Lel HaSeder is to spread this inner goodness to the entire family and friends sitting down with you! We have good so we want others to feel that goodness as well. And this is the entire point of what Hashem is all about and how we need to imitate Him with all our might. Hashem is The Father, The Lover, The Doctor, The Teacher, The Rabbi, The All Knowing, etc. etc. etc. Even if the entire globe sits down typing away their entire life adjectives to explain Hashem’s greatness they will never even reach a speck of what Hashem is all about. Imagine seven billion people for 80, 90 years typing away adjectives. Gathering the biggest language professors in the entire world, and how much more so the Biggest Rabbanim in the entire world with all their Toah knowledge. Still this will not reach a drop in the ocean of truth behind Hashem’s greatness.

B’H we should enter Pesach 5772 with Kedusha, Tahara, Simcha and Yirat Shamayim!
theCLD wishes you a CHAG KASHER VE SAMEACH!
