For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L. Lehavdeel
For the Refua Shlema of Chai Yaakov ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Halacha Yomit (Rav Ovadya):
1. A vessel/item made from plastic becomes Kosher for
Pesach, or one can use the item on Pesach, by doing what has been done to it to
make it non-Kosher for Pesach. Meaning if one has a suspicion that boiling hot
food that is Chametz has fallen onto the plastic (for example tablecloth) from
the past year needs to be ‘Kosherized’ by throwing it into the laundry machine
and cleaning it with boiling water.
2. After cleaning the counter and table really well, one
makes them Kosher for Pesach by pouring on top of them boiling hot water. If
one feels that the boiling water will ruin the table top’s material, then can
simply place a tablecloth over the table and eat on it for Pesach with no
problem. One can also place very thick aluminum foil on top of their counter
and sinks to be able to use these throughout Pesach without a problem.
