L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester.
1. Both men and women must eat THREE Meals (of bread) on Shabbat, one meal corresponding to one prayer (Arvit Friday night, Shacharit/Mussaf Shabbat morning, Mincha Shabbat afternoon). One should be cautious not to lessen the meal in any type of way, with the amount of food or financially. Even a poor person that is financed from Tzedakah must enjoy three meals of Shabbat. However, if one is sick from eating, he/she is exempt from eating the three Shabbat meals.
2. The first two Seudot (meals) of Shabbat, Arvit Friday Night and Shacharit Shabbat morning must include bread in order for one to fulfill the obligation of these meals. Even though one may not eat bread (in very specific circumstances) and still fulfill their obligation of Mincha meal during Seuda Shlishit, it is still best to have it with bread. It is best for one to eat a KaBetzah amount of bread (56 grams ) during
the Shabbat meals. However, if one cannot eat that much bread, they must at
least have a KaZayit amount (27 grams ) of
bread. If one did not eat on Lel Shabbat (Friday Night), they must have
the Three Seudot (meals) of Shabbat during Shabbat day and do Kiddush before
the first meal as well.
