For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef:
1. On every food item that is not grown from the ground such
as meat, chicken, fish, eggs, milk, water, cheese, salt and the like, have a
Beracha of Shehakol Nehiyah Bidvaro.
If one says the Beracha Boreh Pri
Ha’Adamah on any of these foods, they do not fulfill the obligation of
saying a Beracha before eating and must return to say Shehakol properly.
2. Every fruit/produce that has a chance of holding
bugs/insects/etc. cannot be eaten until it is opened and checked thoroughly for
bugs. This check should be done before saying a Beracha on the specified food,
in order to avoid stopping between saying the Beracha and eating/tasting the
food (Hefsek). If one has said a
Beracha on a food that might have Tola’im
(bugs), then they must not eat the
food and check for bugs first; even if they already said a Beracha. One should
open the food item, check for the bugs, and then close the food to say the
proper Beracha.
