Wow.
Unbelievable Parasha over Shabbat!!! Yosef HaTzadik, Yehuda and Tamar, then
Eshet Potiphar anddd Chanukah begins this week! Unreal way to start off the
week fresh and kosher!
So what is
something that everyone can take from the Parasha we read this morning? En
Od Milvado…There is nothing but Hashem. One of the 7 main points of Bitachon
(trust) in Hashem we listed on theCLD recently was the fact that everything
is from Hashem, even if it is given to you or taken from you by your parents,
friend, family, teachers, Rabbis, etc., in the end of the day everything is
from Hashem. Where do we see this? Rav Levy shlit’a explains that in the end of
the Parasha when Yosef asks the two ministers of Paroh why they have such sad
faces, we can infer from here that Yosef was always happy!
Even after
being TEN YEARS in a pit (yes, it is called a Jail but back then it was a 30 foot pit underground with no electricity,
showers, or anything related to some sane living conditions) Yosef did not
complain. Also do we see Yosef opening up his mouth once with a complaint?!
Absolutely not. Everything is good, everything is accepted, everything is okay!
The amount of Bitachon Yosef had in Hashem is astounding.
So what does
this have to do with Chanukah? It is definitely not a coincidence that Chanukah
always falls around this Parasha, Parashat VeYeshev. Chanukah is the ultimate
holiday (every holiday is really) that says EVERYTHING is from Hashem, whether we
like it or not.
We see that
when Halacha (Jewish Law) tells us the best way to fulfill the Mitzvah
of Pirsumei Nisah (publicizing the miracle of Chanukah) is by putting
the Menorah outside the home opposite the Mezuzah!
When we stick the Chanukah outside, even if there are winds to blow out the candles, we state: “Hashem is in control of everything. We stick outside the Candles to show that we cannot use its light for anything but Holy things, to show the anti-Torah people that we live our lives based on the trust we have in Hashem, and not based on our ‘own strength,’ because everything comes from Hashem.

Judaism=Think.
