For the Refua Shlema of Mishael ben Devorah (who had kidney
stone surgery today) and for the L’yilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester, Shahin Shmuel ben Hadassa & Israel Ben Rivka.
From Yalkut Yosef:
1. One should wake up extra early
Friday Morning to prepare for Shabbat by purchasing the groceries/products
needed for the Shabbat meals. One should buy all the items needed for Shabbat
specifically on Erev Shabbat (Friday) and not beforehand, unless the item would
not be available for purchase on Erev Shabbat. Even if someone has many
workers/maids/butlers, he/she should go out of their way to personally buy the
items needed for Shabbat and not send out the workers for him/her. It’s a bigger
Mitzvah for an individual to prepare for Shabbat rather than sending a
messenger.
2. The sweat that one sweats for the preparations of Shabbat
is used by HaKadosh Baruch Hu (Hashem) to ‘erase’ that person’s sins (exactly
like the tears one drops during Prayer). Therefore one should not be lazy in
regards to buying/working for Shabbat and buying the items needed. It is good
to literally say out loud “Lichvod Shabbat” (for the respect of Shabbat) when
buying something on Erev Shabbat (Friday) for the Shabbat meals. If someone
finished their cooking/preparations for Shabbat early, they should still do
something close to the time of Candle Lighting as well.
