L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester.
From Ve’En Lamo Michshol:
1. One should watch out not to swear on things that are true. There are many stories that ended people’s lives from the Midrash and the Shulchan Aruch, Hashem Yerachem, by people swearing on things that were true. Even more so, this Halacha is held for things that are not true. Therefore, when people want to show that what they are saying is true, they should NOT add to their comments “I Swear,” “I swear on my life” or “I swear on my children’s life,” etc.
2. One who goes up for an Aliyah to the Torah, and wants to donate money to the Bet Knesset (Shul), he should say after the amount he is donating “Bli Neder,” without a vow. This should be done because sometimes people forget and they fail to pay the vow.
