CLD #402

For the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara & Binyamin ben Blanka.
In yesterday’s CLD we spoke about the lag between Yom Kippur and Sukkot. In detail we said the 5 day delay between the two HUGE Holidays was all on purpose. But let’s look at the Return of the Ananei HaKavod (the Clouds of Glory) just a little bit.
These Ananei HaKavod were Seven different Clouds that each had a role. These Seven clouds would surround Am Yisrael (more than 2 million people) from the 4 Compass Directions, the top, bottom and one directly in front of them.
What does this represent?
Let’s look at it from a little metaphor. There is a Kindergarten class of a high Tuition program in a school specially made for Foreign Exchange students. However, the Teacher is the parent of one of the students, and she gives extra care to this child.
Am Yisrael is the same thing with Hashem. The teacher pays attention to both students, gives them the same material to learn and the same homework. However, the WAY the teacher behaves with one student is with more love, more compassion and more kindness. The student is definitely expected to return to the teacher with more effort in regards to the homework and participation in class.
The same goes for Am Yisrael. Hashem made humonogous miracles with us 3,324 years ago in the exile from Mitzrayim. What are we expected to do in return? Love Him, build Sukkot, Shake the Lulav & the other Species, and just be all around good examples of His kindness. The Ananei HaKavod is a complete example of this. It shows the everlasting LOVE Hashem has for us. Since these Clouds would defend the Nation in the desert’s wilderness by killing scorpions and snakes and paving the way for Am Yisrael, it just shows the expectations Hashem has of us.

We are an example of Hashem. Just like the teacher’s students represent the teacher, so too with our actions and behavior we represent Hashem and His Torah. The Sukkah alone promotes love, unity, an overall feeling of Simcha and FOOD (everyone loves food)!

With only a small push, we can reach great heights of Simcha, love and chessed to others.
Sukkot is TOMORROW!
