CLD #399

For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester & the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara.
Shavua Tov to Am Yisrael! Shabbat & Yom Kippur has just past us. What a spiritual rollercoaster ride! But Thank G-d, we have past this stage in the year and moving on to another focus Hashem has set for us: SUKKOT! SUKKOT 5772 begins Wednesday Night B’H. Therefore we will begin to focus for the next few days all about SUKKOT.
For now, let’s focus on what we just ended with: Yom Kippur & Shabbat. Yom Kippur was 25+ hours long! We had the ability to fast, to have ourselves feel the independency from our electronics, from writing, from our televisions, from our professors/teachers, bosses, or any other distractions of the non-Shabbat world. What can we do with this power? With this control over our body’s urge to just bum and turn on the TV?
It shows the difference between us and animals. It shows what the potential of the human being is. We are all made up of ‘Ruach Behemot,’ which according to the Orchot Tzadikkim means we all have an animalistic element in us. What is that element?
Instinct, or in other words: acting without thinking. We have just past the holiest day of the year (because it fell on Shabbat)! We have just proved to everyone that we CAN keep Shabbat, and we CAN fast, and we CAN ignore our body and do what we know is right, just because Hashem says so in the Torah HaKdosha! All that happened because we THOUGHT before we acted. Why am I not eating? Because Hashem told me not to. Why did I go to Shul and not chill in my room on my laptop? Because Hashem instructed me today is a Day of Atonement where I reach the level of ANGELS!!!
So what does this tell us for the future?
We CAN do so much more! Our spiritual potentials have just been raised, because Hashem saw that we can accomplish His Mitzvot of keeping Shabbat and the 5 prohibitions of Yom Kippur, so why not try to push us a little more?
It never hurts to grow, because even though life is all about CHANGING, it is 100% optional to grow as a Human and more importantly as a Jew.
Sukkot is Wednesday Night. Are we going to continue on the same down slope line we have been at all year or will we try  to turn this line into a positive slope figure?!?!?
Don't stop Climbing!
We told ourselves the past 40 days: Its time to improve and BH I’m sure we all pushed ourselves to try to be higher by one small level than last year, but the key to this is consistency. Just like a Rehab patient needs to continue his/her work outside the Rehab center (let’s say or Smoking), then all the more so for us Jews who have common core qualities that are equal throughout Am Yisrael. B’H He should give us the spiritual strength to continue in the passion and love we had for Him throughout this Yom Kippur to just RISE and KEEP ON RISING!

Hope everyone had a Tzom Mo’il (meaningful fast), SHAVUA TOVA!
