L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester. Also for SHALOM in Eretz Yisrael!
From Ve’En Lamo Michshol:
1. Whoever has a Jewish hebrew name and his name can be translated into another language, he/she is allowed to be called the name in that language (ex. Moshe, Mussah in arabic or Moses in english). There is no susipicion that one is trangressing the law of Chukot HaGoyim (customs of Goyim).
2. Whoever is called 'Yitzchak,' cannot be called Itzik, because its a name used by the Goyim, but other names are allowed to be shortened (because it does not sound like a Goy name).
SHAVUA TOV!
