KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT BECHOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHEHOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester, Shahin Shmuel ben Hadassa & Israel Ben Rivka.
From Rav Ovadya Yosef’s halachayomit.co.il:
1. “If one would like to recite Selichot alone and not among a congregation of ten Jewish men (provided he is reciting the Selichot at a time that is halachically acceptable to do so, i.e. after halachic midday or midnight), he most certainly may, for who is like Hashem our G-d who answers us whenever we call Him, and even a prayer uttered by someone praying alone is heard by Hashem. Indeed, Selichot are supplications and requests from Hashem to help us repent completely, forgive our sins, and let us merit starting a good, new year. Nevertheless, there are certain parts of Selichot that one praying alone should not recite.”

2.Rabbeinu HaAri z”l writes in his Sha’ar HaPesukim regarding the verse which deals with the fleeing of a murderer to a City of Refuge where no harm will befall him, as the verse states (in Hebrew), “Eenah Le’Yado VeSamti Lecha,” which is the acronym of “Elul.” This hints to us that Elul is the month of repentance and if one returns, he shall be healed. All must repent as the verse states, “Umal Hashem Elokecha ELevavecha Ve’et Levav Zarecha,” which is also the acronym of “Elul,” to hint that if one comes to purify himself, he is aided from Above. This is especially so regarding repentance about which Hashem tells the Jewish nation, “Open for me like the opening of a needle and I shall open for you like the opening of a hall.” This refers to the Heavenly assistance offered to repent. The word “Elul” is also hinted in the verse, “Umishloach Manot IshLe’Re’ehu U’Matanot La’Evyonim,” to teach us that this is the most opportune time to fulfill the Mitzvah of charity, which atones for sins. As the Midrash tells us, “Offerings atone only for sins done unknowingly, but charity atones for sins done knowingly or unknowingly.”
