CLD #377

For the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara & Binyamin ben Blanka.
B'H: I got so much Chizuk today walking out of the Subway.
It was pretty sad but the Torah alone achieved from watching this was worth it, B’H.
He speaks with us everyday, we just need to look for Him.
Anyway, I was walking out of the subway at the 59th street station (6 train) heading out of the platform to the street and I saw a heavy man sitting down on the subway benches by the platforms. All of a sudden he realized the train was right in front of him with open doors. He took a lot of effort to get out of the benches, got out and quickly tried to get on the train. He completely missed the door’s closing by 2-3 seconds. His weight dragged him back.
What does this teach us? Elul is not a time to be taken lightly; we actually need to take advantage of every second of it! There is a train that leaves everyday with or without us to do Mitzvot. We have the opportunity, we just need to begin wanting it.
The heavy man trying to get on the train is all of us during the entire year. We all have this extra heavyweight to us to push to do Mitzvot and follow in the ways of Torah, for example waking for Shacharit or picking to wear a longer skirt. The year is very difficult.
However, in Chodesh Elul Hashem makes this heavyweight dissapear. And if it was the man on the subway, he would write away jump on the train, he just needs to WANT to get on it.
The same goes for us, its Chodesh Elul. In 2 weeks our judgment begins to decide for us what the entire NEXT YEAR OF OUR LIVES will be like. Its up to us to show G-d we really care and are doing things to improve to BENEFIT OURSELVES.
Doing Mitzvot is taking Cash from Hashem’s bank account and transferring it to ours. If everyone wants money, everyone should want to do Mitzvot.

Are you ready to hop on the Torah train?
Yom Kippur is in 24 days.
Rosh HaShanah is in 14 days.
Selichot has already BEGUN.
