L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester & Israel Ben Rivka.
From Ve’En Lamo Michshol:
1. Limud Torah (learning the Torah HaKdosha) atones for one’s sins. Therefore, a Talmid Chacham that dwells in Torah Learning should not put effort in doing certain Fasts (those that are not mandatory, such as fasts of Shovavim, etc.), because a fast weakens the body and leads to one to decrease in the Study of Torah. And even if one fails in a certain sin, he should Tshuva (going on the right path of Torah and Mitzvot, which leads to the happiest life), and should lengthen the amount of time given to learn. Because of this extra learning time, this will be used to ‘erase’ the sin and it will be BH fully atoned for.
2. Limud Torah (delving into the world of Torah by studying it), gives a person STRENGTH to overcome the Yetzer Hara. And if it wasn’t for this Limud, a person would not have enough koach to overcome the Yetzer Hara and his desires that are against Hashem’s will.
