KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVTACH LO SHE'HOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

L'yilui Nishmat Avraham Ben Ester A'H.
From Yalkut Yosef:
1. On the 6th of Sivan (June 7th), the holiday of Shavuot begins. After the 49 days of Sefirat HaOmer the holiday begins, which marks the end of the 50 day count,. When Am Yisrael left Mitzrayim, they heard the line "BeHotziacha Et Ha'Am MiMitzrayim Ta'avdoon Et Ha'Elokim Al HaHar Haze." How? The word Ta'avdoon has an extra letter of "Nun." This extra letter, with the gematriya of 50, represents the 50 days where Am Yisrael would have to travel to get the Torah. This expectation occurs today with Sefirat HaOmer and the Kabbalat HaTorah is celebrated with Chag Shavuot.

2. Only men hold the obvious Minhag (custom) to stay awake on the night of Shavuot and La'Asok BaTorah (learn Torah) until Alot HaShachar, based on the Zohar HaKadosh. The Zohar explains that whoever stays up on this night and learns in True Simcha, is blessed 70 Brachot personally by Hashem and is crowned by the crowns of the Olam HaEmet (Olam Haba). The Achronim (Rabbis from 1500-present) explain that the reason for this minhag is to fix the Pgam (damage) that Am Yisrael did on the night of Kabbalat HaTorah. On that night Am Yisrael had to be awakened to accept the Torah, which was the wrong attitude to accept the foundation of our history, of this world, and of our lives.

SHABAT SHALOM!
