CLD #258

Everything is from G-d. The Garden of Emuna is a book that at length speaks about G-d's hand in our lives. When we say "Echad" in the line of "Shma Yisrael," Chazal tell us to have the kavana (intention) that says that G-d is in control of everything. However G-d has also given us the zchut of having bchira chofshit, or free choice. We certainly all have the bchira (choice) to destroy the world. We have the bchira to hurt someone on the train, or make immodest winks at girls, or be rude to a waitress at the restaurant, be extra nice to older people at the movies, or even want to hurt someone in a lounge. It all comes down to our choice throughout the events of the day.

These little events during the day are the tests that G-d sends us. Whether if we lost something over vacation that was really dear to us, or was pick-pocketed on the Subway, or even stared at in a really negative way in class, ITS ALL FROM G-D. But what we do to find the lost object, or how we react to the pick-pocketing or the stare in class is our choice. We can either go by the guidelines of behavior that we are commanded to follow from the Torah HaKdosha (which is 100% the best alternative, whether it makes sense in our minds or it doesn't) or follow our instincts.
It is difficult to get accustomed to surrendering to the way of the Torah and letting go of our instinct.
B'H We will all realize that Hashem is The King and not only is His way the only correct way, but it is also the happiest way :D.
