A Yeshiva Student from Shuva Yisrael at 59th St. (who wanted to be left as anonymous) wanted to work on his English. So I gave him an assignment to translate a dvar Torah into English and I will tell him I would post it up on the blog. Today he worked on the dvar Torah and took 1.5 hours to try to inspire. Let me know what you think:
We hear a lot in the news about people who become rich. Everyone raises the question of what is the meaning of being rich? A person who lives in America and has two million dollars is not considered a rich man but if he lives in Israel that is considered rich. A person who lives in Israel and has half a million dollars is not considered rich but if he lives in China that is considered a rich man. Conclusion: You can not say any person is rich because everything changes according to time and one's environment All we said is just how the public views the person. But the man himself will never feel rich, in the end of the day he always wants more. If he has ten million he wants twenty, if he has five he wants ten, and so on and so forth.
The Torah HaKdosha tells us that a rich person is measured if he is happy, as it says: "Who is rich? The one who is happy with what he has".
We see an average income family who is happy and we see one high income family who lives in sadness. One should be happy with what he has, just like the Torah says more than a Calf wants to suck the mother's utters, even more so the Mother Cow wants to nurse. In reality, more than we want to run after money and succeed, even more so G-d wants to give us the money.
We need to pray and ask from G-d about money and we need to simply repent of past crimes and forgive others. And only then will we see blessing and success.
"Know where you came and where you are going and before Whom you will be judged"
