KOL HASHONEH HALACHOT KOL YOM MUVATCH LO SHEHOO BEN HAOLAM HABA

1. The minhag on Erev Pesach (Monday, April 18) is that the Bechorim (first-borns) fast to remember the miracle that Hashem did for them by keeping them alive the night of Pesach, killing only the Egyptian Bechorim. Since Ta'anit Bechorot (as it is called) is not actuaslly from Halacha, but it is a minhag, therefore if one of the Bechorim has a little suffering pain or any form of sickness, he does not need to fast.

2. In our generation, since there is such a weakness to Mitzvot, and the ta'anit Bechorot causes such a negative influence to the Torah learning and the Mitzvot of Lel HaSeder (since the Ta'anit ends then). Therefore, the Bechorot have the minhag of cancelling their obligation to fast by taking part of a Seudat Mitzvah, either a Seuda for a Siyum of a Gemara Masechet or a Sheva Brachot, Pidyon HaBen, Brit Milah, etc. and they have what to rely on that its okay. Also if they take part of a Seudat Mitzvah they do not need to make it up by fasting for a day in the future. A Chatan who is a bechor can absolutely NOT fast on Ta'anit Bechorot because this day is his day of simcha and he is not allowed to be strict on himself and fast.
