CLD #205

B'H PURIM IS IN 10 DAYS!!!
We continue with Chizuk from Megillat Ester: Seeing Haman for the first time as "Memuchan" after the incident with Vashti's rejection of Achashverosh's command.

Arrogance at its finest!
These psukim- Ester 1:14,15,16 > "(14)Those closest to him were Carshina, Sheitar, Admata, Tarshish, Meress, Marsina and Memuchan. These were the seven ministers of Persia and Media, who had access to the king and ranked highest in the kingdom. (15) [He asked them:] "By law, what should be done with Queen Vashti for failing to obey the order of King Achashverosh, brought by the chamberlains?"(16) Memuchan declared before the king and the ministers: "It is not against the King alone that Queen Vashti has sinned, but against all the ministers and all the nations in all the provinces of King Achashverosh" (chabad.org) show us the arrogance and mainly disgusting attitude Haman HaRasha had and what we can learn not to do and not to follow. It is true to say that Haman was one of the 7 closest ministers and officers to the king Achashverosh and after the Vashti incident, Achashverosh approached these 7 ministers to channel him regarding taking the next step.
We see Haman as Memuchan written as the 7th minister in the order of the named ministers in Pasuk Yud Dalet. The following pasuk explains Achashverosh's inquiry regarding the Vashti scandal. Pasuk Tet Zayin says that Memuchan answered in front of everyone. We see Memuchan as the lowest minister in the level of the Honored Ministers because he is the 7th one mentioned, and at the same time we see him as the first one who answers. Besides the fact that everything happened because that is how Hashem wanted it to happen, we see Haman disrespectfully ignoring the 6 other ministers in front of himself and the king, and starts blabbing away. We learn that he thinks he should answer first because he has the best answer, showing arrogance and disrespect. Haman had no one put him in his place. The ways of the Rasha'im is to be conceited, fresh, and careless regarding other people; completely self-centered.

We have to continually work on ourselves: on our Midot. How do we act? Who is considered most honorable, most intelligent, most respected in our eyes; our Rabbis or our Professors? What is more important: Olam Haze or Olam Haba?
Shomer Negiyah? + Competitive
Society Example!
We live in a generation that is strictly revolved around the money in your pocket and your rank in how well you step on people to succeed. BUT THE TORAH WILL NEVER GIVE UP ON PUSHING TO IMPROVE WHO WE ARE! People say "but that's not what puts food on the table!" and they are 100% right (depends who you ask and what level of Emunah you have) BUT we need to live as the Nation of Hashem, and not like animals in a materialistic world.

B'H we will have the zchut to fulfill the Mitzva of VeAhavta Lereacha Kamocha and actually think of others before we think of ourselves (mussar to myself also obviously).

SHABAT SHALOM!
