PURIM IS ONLY 28 DAYS AWAY!!!!
SHABAT SHALOM - SHABAT KI TISA

Chag Purim's value and its ruchaniyoot level cannot be described! Even though we were told to party and enjoy, we also need to take into account the reality that we were in danger to be completely annihilated! HAMAN WANTED TO KILL ALL JEWS PHYSICALLY, kind of like in Channukah, where they wanted to kill Jews by taking away our spiritual rights (aka learning Torah, practicing our religion, simply the Greeks wanted to take away our lives, too!). Therefore we need to stay on the level of Jews (holy) and behave in a respectful manner on this holy day even though we are drunk. With this in mind, we need to be cautious and not behave in negative ways (such as embarassing <G-d forbid> Rabbis, mentors, or teachers or embarassing our friends in public, or joking around), rather do the Mitzvah of Purim as Chazal explained with Simcha Amitit, Real Happiness, as the phrase teaches "Ivdoo et Hashem BeSimcha!" (Work G-d with Happiness, aka do his Mitzvot with joy).

The Midrash explains: Mordechai saw Haman HaRasha walking out of Achashverosh's Castle with the pamphlets that gave permission to kill all Jews in the entire world and started panicking! Mordechai ran to three children on the street walking from Talmud Torah (school). He asked the children to recite Psukim they learned on that day. The first brought a pasuk from Mishlei 3:25 : "Be not afraid of sudden terror, or of the darkness of the wicked when it will come." The second child said a pasuk from Yoshiyahu 8:10 :"Contrive a scheme and it will be foiled, conspire a plot but it will not materialize, for G-d is with us." The third spoke again from Yoshiyahu 46:4 : "Even to his old age, I will be the same, and when he is grey-headed, still will I sustain him. I have made him, I will bear him, I will sustain and save him..." When Mordechai heard these three psukim and they all were relevant to an enemy and redemption from Hashem and saw the hashgacha pratit, he started smiling. His panic quickly vanished and when Haman saw this, since he was curious why Mordechai was jumping on some kids asking them these weird questions and saw that Mordechai's panic was gone, he became furious with anger! He could not stand seeing Mordechai happy even when in his own hands he had permission from the king who had control of the entire world to kill! At this moment the Midrash explains that Haman changed his killing plan and said it would begin with all the children (Hashem Yerachem)! AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HASHEM DID> HASHEM HAD RACHAMIM ON US AND SAVED US!

How is it hard to be happy in such a festive time??? Shabat during the month of Adar!!!

SHABAT SHALOM :D!
