Baruch Hashem sometimes we are simply down. If its waking up in a sad mood or simply just “not feeling it” all of a sudden we still need to push. This is absolutely normal, life is just like a heart monitor (no ups and downs, no life). Rabbanim teach us that to simply say “today is not my day” is not an excuse from going to minyan, kriyat shma, tefillin, learning Torah, etc. (as a matter of fact even being sick does not cancel a man’s obligation of the above). When one feels like this, he should know that the potential he has is great because the Yetzer Hara knows in that specific time the individual’s potential is sky-high and will do whatever he can for that person not to pursue the Torah and mitzvot. It is like a child who is stubborn and wants a piece of candy. His mother tells him give me a kiss and I will give you everything. All the child needs to do is break that stubbornness and jump to kiss his mother. The same goes for the person who has a bad day, he needs to pretend turning your day around is like a simple task waiting to be accomplished. Even forcing to smile in a time of tears and cries turns a frown upside down.
Tip: Reciting “Mitzvah Gdola Lehiyot BeSimcha” over and over psychologically pushes the person to be happy.
The Gmara says that we were supposed to praise Hashem through each breathe we take, but because we practically cannot live like this it is not recommended to follow. Its time to appreciate.
SHAVUA TOV.
