Translated from Shivat Tzion (Rav Ben Tzion Mutzafi
shlit’a):
1. Every individual should put effort to prepare two cooked
foods lichovd Shabbat (in honor of
the Shabbat) for each meal, even if its rice or dried fruits. Lechatchila (the
best way) one should prepare two cooked foods like meat, fish or chicken for
each Shabbat meal. If on a weekday this person usually eats two cooked foods,
they should prepare for Shabbat three. Also on Friday this individual should avoid
eating the special third cooked food that was cooked lichvod Shabbat.
2. Lichvod Shabbat Kodesh one should try to bake bread or if
they usually bake bread, they should bake unique bread that is more tasty than
the weekday bread. Bread that is more tasty is better than bread that is larger
in size. Rabbi Haim Palag’I ZTK’L used to bring to each of his Shabbat meals a
special loaf of bread lichvod Shabbat
Kodesh and even for Melaveh Malka (Seuda Revi’it – the Fourth Meal for
Saturday night).
