Translated from Yalkut Yosef:
1. The Mitzvah of Sefirat HaOmer must be accomplished while
one is standing, because Chazal (our Holy Sages) has learned this from the
Pasuk that teaches about Sefirat HaOmer and the Seven Weeks between Pesach and
Shavuot. However, if one has sat while saying the Beracha they have still
fulfilled the obligation of Sefirat HaOmer.
2. The Counting of the Omer must be done with the actual
pronunciation of the Counting done by one’s lips and mouth and cannot be done
through the mind because thought does not have enough power for one to fulfill
his obligation to count the Omer. If one thought about counting the Omer, they
may still say the Beracha of the Omer afterwords and then count the Omer using
speech. Lechatchila (the best
alternative) one should have say the counting of the Omer loud enough for one
to hear himself speak, and if one said the Omer in a low voice so that his ears
do not hear his words, he still fulfills the obligation of counting the Omer (yatzah lidei hova).
