Translated from Rav Ovadia’s Halacha Emails:
1. All fish that have fins and scales are kosher. Fish must
have both signs to be considered kosher and then one can eat all parts of the
fish (unlike meat). However, if fish have fins that can only be seen under a
microscope, then an individual may not eat from these non kosher fish.
2. Water that has bugs/insects that can only be seen under a
microscope, is allowed to be consumed according to the essence of the law. Like
water, fruits and vegetables that also have worms that are too small for the
naked eye to see
can be consumed without a worry that the person who is eating
is consuming food that is prohibited. However, if after a person sees under the
microscope the worms and then the worms are seen with their naked eye, then the
food is prohibited and one should be stringent from eating this
fruit/vegetable. However, even if after seeing the fruit/vegetable under the
microscope the individual still cannot see the worm, then one can be lenient
and eat the fruit/vegetable without violating any law.
