Translated from Yalkut Yosef:
1. The law of Talmid
Hacham (Torah Scholar) still stands today and therefore when an individual
sees a Talmid Hacham who is huge in Torah studies, has Fear of Heaven and is a
teacher for all of Israel they can say the beracha (blessing) of shehalak Mehochmato L’yirav. One is
obligated tor espect and even fear his/her Rabbi even more than his/her father.
It is a Mitzvah to stand up in front of each hacham (Torah scholar), even if they are not old and they do not
guide the individual like a Rabbi.
2. One who stands for a zaken
(older person) or a Talmid Hacham
(Torah Scholar) must stand for their honor when the zaken or Hacham is standing
or when the zaken/Hacham is in his/her 6 foot radius (arba amot).
