Translated from Rav Yaakov Yisrael Lugasi’s Takanat HaShav:
1. If one is struggling with staying strong spiritually and
they are invited to a simha (happy
occasion/celebration) and by the simha there are women dressed improperly, they
are forbidden from going to that simha. If one avoids going to this celebration
even though they have a great desire to go then this passive decision falls
under the category of mesiroot nefesh
(self sacrifice). One who sacrifices for Hashem can have the sacrifice stand
for him/her up in Shamayim (the Heavens) to help the individual overcome their
spiritual challenges.
2. If an individual attends work by an office filled with
different types of people, including women who dress improperly, he should be
determined to keep his eyes down not to look at improper places. If an
individual who does this becomes ashamed by the other co-workers in his office,
this falls under the category of mesiroot
nefesh.
Shabbat Shalom!
