Translated from Yalkut Yosef Online (Yalkut.Info):
1. Whoever has exactly enough oil to light all the candles
he/she needs for the entire Hag of Hannukah and his/her friend does not have
oil at all to light any candles, it is best if he/she can provide the friend
with oil so both can fulfill the obligation at the minimum level and each light
a single candle every night. Because the essence of the Halacha only stresses
the lighting of one candle per night and lighting the number of candles that
corresponds to the number of days is mehadrin
min hamehadrim (performing the Mitzvah in a conscientious manner).
2. Whoever made a mistake and lit more candles than the
number needed (for example on the third night they lit four candles), they
fulfilled the obligation of lighting the candles of Hannukah and do not need to
relight any candles that fits with the day of Hannukah. If an individual made
the mistake of returning to light the candles and says the Beracha (blessing)
on lighting the candles again, this is considred a Beracha Levatala (a blessing said in vain) because they already
fulfilled the obligation by lighting a single candle (no matter what night of
Hannukah it is).
