CLD #763

Today if I had a million dollars I am able to buy many cars that have start up engines, oh wait its not 2005. Today I can simply spend a couple hundred dollars and I lease a start up engine vehicle. Today I can simply speak to my phone and it even types up my text messages! Today I don't even need to remember when was the last time I had meat, I can simply remind my phone using an application to tell me when I can have dairy foods.

Today everything comes to our fingertips. However, there are certain things that don't. For example, it doesn't matter how many protein bars and low fat snacks an individual buys at the local deli, a diet can influence one's weight for the best only through exercise. The person has to actually go out to the street (or their local gym) and run, jump around, lift weights, play sports, etc. to lose weight. If an individual wants to tone their muscles and build their chest/back, they have to actually use the proper machines in the appropriate ways. There are no shortcuts to exercising.

Well, guess what? The same goes for the powerful life of Torah and Mitzvot. If someone wants to obtain a spiritual and pure life filled with joy and connection with Hashem, they must WORK at it. They must put effort and there are no shortcuts because Hashem is The One who is watching and calculating how hard the person is working to really live with Him or not. Wherever we go in life, there is always some way to 'scheme' or shortcut the system, even if it might not be legal according to the Shulhan Aruch (Jewish Code of Law).

Be'ezrat Hashem this should come to teach all of us that at the time where it is toughest we should really put in the effort and show Hashem we have no more strength left. AND THAT IS OKAY. The ultimate form of showing Hashem that we believe in Him is by saying: Hashem, I give up, its all up to you now! However, the only time it works is when Hashem sees and calculates if we really gave all our strength. At the same time, there is no pressure because Hashem is also our Father: so smile.

Judaism=Think.
