Due to the Winter
Clock, sunset is much earlier and people unfortunately have the issue of
praying Minha late. Therefore, we will discuss some Halachot of Minha Times.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef Online (Yalkut.Info):
1. One is allowed to pray Minha until the end of Ben HaShemashot (between sunset and
nightfall), which ends at 18 minutes after sunset (today 4:52pm). Even though
one knows he will not finish Minha until after this time, if he begins to pray
during this time he is allowed to finish even after nightfall. However, if an
entire congregation sees that they will not finish the Tefillah of the Amida
out loud (after everyone prays silently) before nightfall, then they can say
Minha with the Kedusha out loud altogether in order to finish the Minha
Tefillah during Ben HaShemashot.
2. After the Amida we tend to say the Vidui and Nefilat
Apayim Prayer (Tahanun: Hatanu Avinu Pash’anu…).
If a congregation is running late they can still say the Vidui and Nefilat
Apayim prayers within the Ben HaShemashot time (meaning anytime before 4:52pm
today they can say Vidui/Tahanun).
