Translated from Yalkut Yosef:
1. After one finished his permanent set time in the Bet
Midrash learning Torah daily, he should go to his workplace and each indvidual
should put great effort not to lack in his work because each Torah learning
that lacks work in the end goes aimless and ends up in sin because poverty
leads one to forget his Creator. In any case, one should avoid making his work
primary and his Torah learning secondary and only when an individual’s Torah
learning is primary then both are successfully obtained. In any event, it is
favorable to learn Torah all day and to receive a salary from the Kollel or Yeshiva or a private endorser instead of mixing working and
learning Torah together. Even if one’s salary leads him to have a tough life,
he should put his trust in Hashem, as it says in Tehillim (32), The One who Trusts in Hashem, kindness (Hessed) circulates
him.
2. Even though one has the obligation to put effort in his parnasah (work), in any event he should
put trust in Hashem, who is The One who supports every living creature. One
should avoid taking away this trust from Hashem and depend on Hashem solely
that everything is in His hands. Furthermore, one is allowed to start a life
insurance plan and there is no suspicion with this action that he/she is
showing a lack of trust in Hashem. However, these insurance plans must be done
according to Halacha (Jewish law), with the proper Rabbis directing the issues.
