For the Ilui
Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L, Yissachar ben Yona ZT’L and Haviva bat
Yocheved Z’L.
From Yalkut Yosef:
1. One should be naturally driven to chase after Mitzvot. There are those who delay in their sleep, stroll in their homes, and then run into Shul. This is not the Middah (characteristic) of Zerizut (speediness). Forever man should be quick for Tefillah and Torah (prayer and learning) and avoid the lengthening of time used for sleep and fulfilling basic desires. One should not listen to his yetzer hara (evil inclination) because of his wealth and properties, rather one should know the Torah’s reward in everlasting.
2. One should wake up early enough so he can come to Shul in a
clean manner without missing the time of Tefillah. Some congregations of Israel have
the minhag (custom) that the Shamash of the Shul (Shul helper) goes
around the community and wakes up people for Tefillah and the overall service
of Hashem.
