CLD #633

For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L and Haviva bat Yocheved Z’L.
There were five major things that happened on this day of mourning and destruction in our rich history. Unfortunately, the five things are: 1. The Luhot HaBrit (the tablets of the 10 commandments) were broken by Moshe Rabbenu, 2. Apostemos burnt the Sefer Torah today, 3. A huge Idol was placed in the Hechal of the Beit HaMikdash on this day, 4. The gates of Yeurshalayim were broken into on 17 Tammuz, and 5. The Tammid sacrifice (which would save many lives) was stopped today.

These five major things show us that Hashem was not happy with Am Yisrael. Everything is under Hashem’s rule, so if these horrible events happen it means due to our sins Hashem gave these people (mostly Goyim) in history the power to overcome us. Each one of these events marks a time where the Torah was not respected. The Luhot HaBrit were thrown onto the ground because Am Yisrael did not follow the single most important commandment in the Torah of testifying to the world that there is a single G-d by participating in the Het Ha’egel (golden calf).

A Sefer Torah was burnt today! It is known in history that Am Yisrael have been brutally murdered because of what is written in the Torah. Today we (speaking to myself as well) have the opportunity to learn and metaphorically devour Limud Torah (learning) and we just let it pass in front of us. How holy is the Torah! How much do we care?

The Bet HaMikdash is the Home of Hashem. Imagine if G-d forbid George saw his wife commiting adultery in their own home, how would George react? The same is with the third event, the Idol placed right in the center of the Bet HaMikdash, Hashem yaazor!

The fourth is the entrance of our enemies into Yerushalayim with the intention of killing and destroying every human and holy mark of Yerushalayim in sight. How many people began to die today? Millions. Do we speak about it like we speak about the Holocaust? Why don’t we remind the world of what happened?

Rav Darmoni shlit’a said that if we would still have the Tammid Korban there would be no car accidents in Eretz Yisrael! That single daily sacrifice saved thousands of lives! How much did we lose with that loss!

May Hashem turn these days into days of Yamim Tovim and may Hashem look deep into our hearts to see the sadness we have of the loss of the Bet HaMikdash and help us build the 3rd Mikdash BBA!

SHAVUA TOV!
Tzom Mo’il (meaningful fast).
