Translated from Yalkut Yosef Kitzur Shulchan Aruch:
1. The Hachamim (Sages) forbid the consumption of bread from
Christians because they constructed this decree to avoid any closeness between
them and us (so there will be no inter-marriage). In places where there is no Pat Yisrael, there is this notion of
being lenient and eating Pat Nochri.
If one will begin eating Pat Nochri they will end up eating in the non-Jew’s
home.
2. Bread that was baked in a non-Jewish kitchen and is given
to the Jew in the non-Jew’s home is prohibited forever. There is no difference
between Christians who are idol worshippers and Arabs who are not idol
worshippers. The decree stands to prevent Jews and non-Jews from
inter-marrying.
