L’yilui Nishamt Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
From Yalkut Yosef:
1. One should have their table set and ready for Lel HaSeder during the day before Pesach (called Erev Pesach) so that the homeowner (Ba’al HaBayit) can come home and go straight to the table to do Kiddush (obviously after Tzet HaKochavim, nightfall). Both men and women are obligated in the Mitzvah of drinking four glasses of Wine (the Four Kosot).
2. Its good to have the children sleep during Erev Pesach (the
day of Lel HaSeder) so they can be alert and awake to participate in the
Mitzvah of VeHigadeta Lebanecha (telling over the story of Yetitziyat
Mitzrayim). A child who understands the story of Yetziyat Mitzrayim (the Exile
from Egypt) is obligated to be given by the parent 4 glasses of wine (100% grape
juice) and he doesn’t have to drink Revi’yit Wine (81 grams in one
shot). It is more important to give children sweets and other treats to be
alert throughout the Lel HaSeder.
