"If a woman conceives and gives birth to a male..." (VaYikrah 12:2)
The famous Hida ZT'L explains that the Rashei Tevot of this Pasuk from the Parasha we heard this morning spells out Zechut (privilege), Zayin-Chaf-Vav-Tav. What does this mean?
The Hida explains that the entire Zechut (privilege) of the baby boy that was born rests in the mother's hands throughout life. Its important when going on Shidduchim (religious dating) to find the correct woman to raise your children in the future. A true Bat Yisrael is one who puts her life on the line for Hashem. "What is more important? My sleep or my children's Hinuch (parenting/teachings) on Shabbat morning?" A Bat Yisrael will do anything for her children to know how to read shema Yisrael properly and live a life of Torah and Mitzvot.
How beautiful is a Torah that just results in more good events and occasions?
