CLD #531

For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L & Gitel Hinda bat Shifra Z’L.
Rav Pinkus in a couple of pages does the work of muliptle Rabbanim. How? His writing is so powerful that it gets you to the deepest parts of Jewish thought and life. Rav Pinkus’ book on Purim enlightens one’s heart to get stronger in Torah learning and connect with his/her roots. It says in Mishlei, “Ki Hashem Iten Chochma MiPiv Da’at U’Tevunah.” For Hashem gives wisdom; from His mouth knowledge and discernment (Chabad.org).
From this Pasuk the great Rav Pinkus explains that one who learns Torah (especially at night) can reach the level of learning Torah from HASHEM’S MOUTH. And not only that, Rav Pinkus teaches that it is as if Hashem is teaching each and every one of us who learn Torah at night on the level that He taught Moshe Rabbeinu on HAR SINAI! This is the power of The Book: to bring back together the roots of Am Yisrael to its source. Also when one reads from a book they connect to its author; so how much stronger in Spirituality and everlasting Purity does one get from learning the Torah?
The Midrash explains: Mordechai saw Haman HaRasha walking out of Achashverosh's Castle with the pamphlets that gave permission to kill all Jews in the entire world and started panicking! Mordechai ran to three children on the street walking from Talmud Torah (school). He asked the children to recite Psukim they learned on that day. The first brought a pasuk from Mishlei 3:25 : "Be not afraid of sudden terror, or of the darkness of the wicked when it will come." The second child said a pasuk from Yoshiyahu 8:10 :"Contrive a scheme and it will be foiled, conspire a plot but it will not materialize, for G-d is with us." The third spoke again from Yoshiyahu 46:4 : "Even to his old age, I will be the same, and when he is grey-headed, still will I sustain him. I have made him, I will bear him, I will sustain and save him..." When Mordechai heard these three psukim and they all were relevant to an enemy and redemption from Hashem and saw the Hashgacha Pratit (Divine Providence), he started smiling. His panic quickly vanished and when Haman saw this, since he was curious why Mordechai was jumping on some kids asking them these weird questions and saw that Mordechai's panic was gone, he became furious with anger! He could not stand seeing Mordechai happy even when in his own hands he had permission from the king who had control of the entire world to kill! At this moment the Midrash explains that Haman changed his killing plan and said it would begin with all the children (Hashem Yerachem)!
This shows us that no matter where the Rasha gets on the power scale, he/she will never be happy. We live our lives on appreciation and thanking Hashem for everything! One even says a Beracha in regards to mourning blessing Hashem for Judging Truthfully. On this note, we must understand that everything is from shamayim (the Heavens) and no matter what Hashem puts us through we need to stubbornly accept it and deal with it using our Rabbi’s directions.

SHAVUA TOV! Purim is in 3 nights!
