For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L. Lehavdeel
For the Refua Shlema of Chai Yaakov ben Margalit shlit’a.
Translated from Mekor Chaim Kitzur Shulchan Aruch:
1. There is no Mitzvah in all of the List of Mitzvot that is
weighed the same like the Mitzvah of Talmud
Torah (Learning Torah), and even more so: Talmud Torah is equal to them
(the Mitzvot) all. Why? Because the Learning of Torah leads to action.
Therefore the learning of Torah is seen in all contexts and places.
2. It is a Mitzvah to stand up in front of a Chacham (Torah Scholar) even if he is
not a Zaken (has white haird) or
his/her Rabbi, and it is also a Mitzvah to stand up in front of a Seva (has 70 years and some say even 60,
and must stand even if this person is an Am
Ha’Aretz [without proper Torah education]) and is not a Rasha (wicked
person). The most gifted with wisdom in the generation (in ours it would be Rav
Ovadya Yosef shlit’a, Rav Chaim Kanyevsky shlit’a and Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv
shlit’a) is considered like a Rav Muvhak
(one’s personal Rabbi).
