For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef:
1. During the time that the Kohanim (High Priests) bless the
Kahal (congregation) by saying Birkat
Kohanim, the congregation must stand on their feet in fear and respect acting
as if they are standing in front of Hashem. Only a sick person or a zaken (old person) are permitted to sit
down while the Birkat Kohanim is going on. When the Kohanim are saying the
actual Beracha before saying the Psukim (“Yevarechecha
VeYishmerecha…”) the congregation must face the Kohanim with heads down to
avoid looking at them. The congregation also must pay attention to the Beracha
(blessing) of the Kohanim.
2. Whoever enters the Bet Knesset (shul) for any reason and
realized that Birkat Kohanim is taking place, they must stand and listen to the
Beracha fully without leaving the
Bet Knesset in the middle or even by the end.
