For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef:
1. If someone G-d forbid violated a law on Shabbat Kodesh
such as lighting a candle or turning on the light, even if it was a mistake it
is not allowed to enjoy from this light on Shabbat. Lighting fire/electricity
on Shabbat is a violation that comes straight from the Torah. In any case, one
does not need to leave his/her home, rather they should just avoid enjoying
from that light (for example they shouldn’t read a book by that light or do
anything that needs light to be completed).
2. Whoever walked nearby an automatic door that opens by a
sensor or by stepping on an electronic carpet, and did this by accident without
the knowledge that the doors are automatic; if he/she continues to walk they
cause the doors to close. Therefore this person should call over a Goy
(non-Jew) to stand in their place and then they can walk in, or just bring a
large object that would take place of the person in the sensor’s eye. If there
is no Goy or large object in the area, only then one can be lenient and
continue to walk into the building because they have something to lean on
(meaning there is a rabbinical opinion that agrees with this view). And the
Wise Person needs to set up/plan these things from Erev Shabbat (Friday)
in order to avoid entering into these problematic situations.
SHABBAT SHALOM!
