For the Ilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester ZT’L.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef:
1. There is a major Halacha that most people need to
understand clearly: There is an obligation to have three meals on Shabbat
Kiddush with TWO full complete loaves of bread/pitas. This also applies for
women. Therefore, one should be stringent and make sure besides the fact that
they need two loaves of bread on Shabbat for every meal, that both breads will
be complete. This means that one should only take off the sticker label on the
bread only AFTER they make the HaMotzi Beracha (blessing).
2. If a person on Shabbat Kodesh looks for bread and finds a
loaf of bread (let’s just say they have another one that is full) but it has
been cut into two halves/pieces, they can still use it for the rule to say HaMotzi
on two complete loaves of bread. However, first they need to try and find a
toothpick to join the two halves together to make it seem like it is one full
piece of bread. If they cannot find a toothpick it is good enough to bring both
halves together and say Birkat HaMotzi.
SHABBAT SHALOM!
