For the L’yilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester, Shahin Shmuel ben Hadassa & Israel Ben Rivka.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef:
1. The one who eats something that
is less than Kazayit (28 grams),
whether its bread or other foods, and the one who drinks less than Reviyit (84 grams of a drink) only says
the Beracha before eating/drinking that food/beverage, but there is no need to
say a Beracha Achrona (like Boreh Nefashot Me’ayin Shalosh or Birkat HaMazon).
2. One who tastes food to see if there is salt missing or
too much salt (for example) and the like, even if he/she know they will swallow
the food, they do NOT say a Beracha on it, until this food reaches the weight
of Kazayit (28 grams) only because
their intention is just to taste the food. However, if the person’s intention
is to eat the food, then he/she says the Beracha that fits that food.
