For the L’yilui Neshama of Avraham ben Ester, Shahin Shmuel ben Hadassa & Israel Ben Rivka.
Translated from Yalkut Yosef:
1. One should not supply another
person with food unless he/she knows they need to say a Beracha (blessing) on
the food. However, if a respected guest comes over to eat that does not keep
Torah & Mitzvot but is friendly and respects those who follow the Torah; if
the Ba’al HaBayit (homeowner) does
something to cause the respected guest to hate people who follow Torah (meaning
if he asks the guest to say a Beracha or do Netillat Yadayim and the guest will
be offended), one CAN be lenient and give the guest food even though he will
not say a Beracha. It is best for the Ba’al HaBayit to say a Beracha on his
food and have the intention to take out the guest’s duty of saying a Beracha
with his own Beracha (LeHotzi Lidei Chova).
2. One should not share a drink using his/her own glass
because of some danger that he/she is sick and the other person using the glass
will catch the sickness. For Kiddush on Shabbat and Yom Tov, it is best to
drink from the same glass of Kiddush. However, if there are guests that are not
so known, it is best to clean off the place on the cup where the Ba’al HaBayit
drank or just pour the Wine into another cup for the guests. But if the Ba’al
HaBayit did not do so and the guest believes he is sick, or the guest is a
little germy then the guest does not have to drink.
