CLD #393

For the Lyilui Nishmat of Avraham ben Ester & the Refua Shlema of Mordechai Tzvi ben Sara. Also for SHALOM in Eretz Yisrael!
Before Pesach theCLD spoke about the letter ‘Hey.’ To refresh your memories we know that Yahadut (Judaism) is an endless lifetime goal of reflection of our world, knowledge, and to always strengthen a spiritual connection with Hashem. Now, when looking at the Hebrew alphabet, we see the letter Hey has two openings, one on the upper right and a bigger opening on the bottom. What does the view of this letter teach us? That one always has the CHOICE to either go up or down spiritually. If we go up, there is a small entry because there is only a few amount who decide to do this. However, once they’re in, they only reach stability and happiness. That is symbolized by the top piece of the letter. If one goes through the opening in the upper leftthen he/she will always have a floor to stand on. If someone does not, then they reach a big hole on the bottom. Hey is also an abbreviation of Hashem's name, it is a life with Hashem!
Now let’s look at the alphabet a drop deeper. The letter ‘Chet’ is the 8th letter in the Hebrew Alphabet with 3 sides and an open bottom. The word Chet (same pronunciation as the 8th letter) means a Sin (unintentional). The letter itself shows us that when someone goes into the situation of sinning, of being in a Chet, they only go in one direction: DOWN! There is no success, no improvement, nothing positive from following a life of Chatayim (sins) and we all need to repeat this in our minds (including me obviously).
Inspiration: Rabbi Levy shlit’a. The Mishnah in Talmud on Yom Kippur is called Yoma, and it starts with “Seven days before…” Usually the Talmud names the Mishnah based on the first word of the Mishnah itself. Here it is “Seven,” however we call this Mishnah Masechet Yoma (The Day), which is all about Yom Kippur. The Maharsha (commentator) on Masechet Yoma (Gemara/Talmud) explains that the Mishnah begins with Seven because Yom Kippur is the spiritually highest of all Chagim (holidays). It is the Shabbat Shabbaton of all Chagim. The ‘Seventh’ day of holidays. There are 7 main days that are devoted to days of Yom Tov straight from the Torah: 1-Rosh HaShanah, 2 & 3- Sukkot, 4 & 5- Pesach and 6- Shavuot. These 6 are called Shabbaton’s in the Torah. However, Yom Kippur (the 7th day) is called Shabbat Shabbaton, because it is higher in spiritual level. Therefore we need to prepare extra carefully.

One has Yom Kippur to erase everything (all the bad) from the past year. Don’t waste this Yom Kippur. Let’s learn and inspire eachother to TAKE ADVANTAGE of the GIFTS Hashem gives us!

SHAVUA TOV & SHANA TOVA!
Yom Kippur is in 5 days.
Have you prepared?
